9 months old already?!!

Just got new pics of Bella - Aurigan Dunes Celestine Blue. The Sally x Deacon litter is now 9 months old.
W. York-Patten at the Cardigan Complex Blog took some smashing pictures of the kids at the Portland, OR show this past weekend, and this head shot of Bella is so nice! Thanks! I have a VERY hard time getting head shots of her.
Question to the Cardigan populus in general: Wiskers - trimmed or left alone? Anyone had a bad experience or a good experience with Wisker trimming? I ask because Bella has some tentacles coming out of her face! You can kinda see them in the picture. They seem a bit overwhelming for her face, but I have never trimmed whiskers before. :)

We don't trim whiskers anymore: that was SO 1980's ;-) We trimmed when we had Aussies.

But if I had a dog with a white face and a single black whisker (for example) I would nick just that one off.

It depends on the dog if we trim. If we have one with a narrower muzzle we may leave them on as it make the face look fuller. In most cases we do trim, mainly from habit more than anything else I think. Years ago a friend of mine had a judge tell her her Siberian would have won if she had groomed him (ie. taken the wiskers off)...lucky for me she didn't as I got winners dog that day....

I had a hard time deciding to ACTUALLY do it, but I finally took the whiskers off both my blue puppies. I think they look much neater and cleaner. I take off everything but the eyebrows, and those I shorten down a little. Even when I don't completely remove the whiskers, I always trim them to a uniform length - and inch and a half to two inches. I always take off the chin and cheek whiskers, leaving the eyebrows and muzzle.

That's just how I like to do it, though.

I honestly don't know in Cardis, but I do know in German Shepherds we did as Renay does -- we trimmed to make a coarse muzzle appear neater, and left them on to give weight on a dog who needed it.

Aw, you're welcome! I really, really want to take her down on the beach over near my place and set her up for some shots, though... I think they would be gorgeous. Actually, I'd love to do that for Hunter too one of these days.

She's got that same super dark eye that Caleb does, and it's so hard to make it sparkle and not get lost in her heavy eyeliner so to speak. Oh boy oh boy though, when her ears come up and she smiles, she's just so pretty.

Thank you so much for hanging out last weekend. I hope you guys are feeling better too!

I've trimmed whiskers once. When I took them off her best feature, her beautifully planed head, really stood out. She took WB that weekend so maybe that's why? LOL

Hmmm, maybe I will just try it and see. Then, if it looks bad they can always grow back. LE doesnt have very imposing wiskers... or whiskers... so I never thought about it. Bella just seems to be overwhelmed with them. ;) Kinda funny.
Thanks for the advice.
