Herding.Is.Fun.

I think I am about to become addicted to herding.

Both Hunter, Ellyn, Dotty, and Beatrys all passed their HIC and HCT tests today at Ewe-Topia in Roy, WA. I will get pictures up as soon as I have some...

Each dog had 3 sheep to herd in a small corral area. We took the dogs in one at a time, but Dotty and Ellyn needed a little bit of help realizing that yes, their job that day was to chase sheep. So, when Dayl took Dotty in, she also brought in Beatrys who immediately went after the sheep. Once it all clicked in Dotty's head she was on. Same for Ellyn. Ellyn had so much fun the second time around, she didnt want to leave the pen!

Hunter was amazing! He took off after the sheep without me encouraging him, and he stopped when told and did perfect recalls both times. He stayed very focused and didnt wander off to pee on the fence, or eat the sheep poo, or get distracted by the other dogs and people outside the fence (like a lot of the other dogs did).

The dogs got muddy and stinky and had a great time. I have GOT to find someone close to me that herds... I would probably go all the time!

New titles!
Am/Can Ch. Aurigan Dunes National Treasure, HIC HCT
Am/Int Ch. Aurigan Mantle Out Of Thin Air, HIC HCT
Merrymoon Pluperfect Pacifica, HIC HCT
Rememberance El Camino At Dune, HIC HCT

Hey! This is Simon's mom, and hooray, found your blog through your card! I'll have photos for you as soon as the card charges here... and I'll link them to you and let me say that Hunter was magnificent!

He is a workin' dawg, and me, I love a dog with a mind to go with the body! ;) (Which he's also got in spades!)

I had so much fun today - it was absolutely wonderful to meet you guys and your fantastic dogs! Thank you so much for having so much good advice and being so willing to share it!

Awesome day. :D I could totally be addicted to herding too!

Cool! I signed PJ up for the instinct test at the nationals, my friends are going to take him since I'll be at home with the babies. I hope he has fun.
