Hunter OFA

X-rays to OFA done today. I have never done elbows before, but the vet thinks they look great.
Hips look like they will pass! Now we just wait and see what they decide to rate them. Momma Beatrys and papa Kolby are both Good, so lets hope there is a positive trend there!

Looking for...

Maybe if I just put this out there, someone will have an idea for me or know the perfect bitch to do this with...

I am looking for a breeding age black/white cardigan bitch to breed to Toby - Ch. Dunes Fade To Blaque. He is listed on this site and you can click on his picture to get to his webpage. Toby is a very nice boy who has been used once. I would like to get a puppy (for me) out of him sooner than later. He is out of Ch. Yardican Devon Druid and Aurigan Miss Goodnite, ROMB. He is OFA Good, CERF, PRA Clear, etc.

If anyone has any ideas for me, please let me know. I would be happy to answer questions. yolanda@dune.aurigan.com

Man, sometimes I wish we didn't have color restrictions...*sigh* (please dont blast me for that comment, I obey CWCCA ethics).

Ever Had A Week

Have you ever had a week where you just wished you would have stayed in bed? Here are just some tidbits of what happened this week:

*Tried to make dinner yesterday and it just all went horribly wrong. (Under cooked chicken and bad cheese) So wrong we threw it out. Gross.
*Bella ate some of the carpet in the living room. The living room in the house we are trying to sell. Awesome.
*Job situation is deteriorating. And that is all I will say about that! Blah.
*Burned hashbrowns at breakfast.(Not sure how I managed that). Gross.
*I had to get my H1N1 shot. Glad to have it, but not so glad to actually get a shot. Ouch.
*The dogs proceeded to kill all the stuffed animals that were won in Canada (a week ago) and pull all the guts out and left them all over the newly cleaned house. Super.
*The boxes I got to pack with are too square for a lot of the stuff I need to pack. Geez.
*Discovered that the sausage patties and the chicken breasts were freezer burned. Gross.
*We have no milk, butter, katchup, bread, paper, any fruit or veggies, lunch supplies, etc. Need to go to the store, but don't feel like spending the money. Lame.
*Went to go play with Hunter and I bent down as he came up under my jaw and cracked my teeth together. Hit so hard it made my eyes water. He has a big hard head. Ouch.
*A house we wanted doesnt have doors and corners wide enough for our large furniture. Blah.
*I hate doing the dog's nails. And they hate having their nails done. It's a mutual hatred that leaves me upset everytime I do it. And today was the day. Tear.
*Jesse is trying to sell the TVs - and has had several people interested. Today, someone came over and then left without the TV because they didnt understand what 'rear-projection' meant. Lame.
*One of the dogs drank water too fast and puked water/slime all over the floor. Gross.
*The laboratory just got an inspection. We did great and the lab bought the employees sub sandwiches. Which was a very nice idea. However, I am kinda sandwich picky and had to discard a bunch of the yucko veggies. And then I got to the soggy bread... I dont do soggy bread. Gross.
*I have started coughing again. Blah.
*My great-grandmother in Minnesota passed away this morning. WORST.

Now, I know that a lot of these things are pretty trivial and dumb, but it just seemed to all add up. And Grandma passing was not a good way to end the day. I will really really miss her.
Hope everyone else's week was better. I need puppy breath. Anyone care to send some my way?

Good Weekend

New title!
Am/Can/Int Ch. Aurigan Dunes National Treasure, HCTs!!!
Hunter was awarded four V-1a awards at the International show in Vancouver, WA this weekend. LE already has her Int Ch. title so her and Bella just went to root Hunter on.
Show 1 Judge Rosemary Leist - V-1a and BOB - missed group... well actually I was never called into the ring by the steward. So I thought they were on Bred by Ex group... like she said...I was standing about 10 feet from the ring. Apparently that was too far...
Show 2 Judge David Krogh - V-1a and BOB. Made group and was pulled to 4th, but they only reward to 3rd.
Show 3 Judge Honey Glendinning - V-1a, BOB and Group 3! New Ch.!
Show 4 Judge Richard Samide - V-1a, BOB and Group 3!
Website for the IABCA shows is www.iabca.com if anyone wants to check that out.
Very nice comments from the judges. Other than me missing my first group ring, and the camera not wanting to focus in the barn, it all went well.
Soooo, we are off to Vancouver again next weekend for regular AKC show. ;)
Everyone have a good week!

In other news...

All the 'grand-puppies' at Grandma Karen's in Dayton.
L to R - LE, Callie (English Springer), Bella, Hunter and Velvet New pictures of Bella. It's like we cloned Sally! Minus the excess hair.
Gotta love make-shift tables... I think I need to put a real one on my B-Day list!

In other news, Hunter gets to try for his International title next weekend. Those are busy shows, but I might have to take my new Diana Gabaldon book since I am only showing one dog. Dayl already finished the book, so I am way behind ;)
Hunter is also still doing beginning agility, and is doing pretty good. I am a little bit of a spaz, (like getting Hunter on my right side. I am already left and right challenged. This is torture.) but he is doing fine!
Then I have LE and Bella at Vancouver. So excited to see Riley again! Riley is Hunter's handsome half-brother.
And after that, I am scheduled for a heart procedure in Spokane, WA the day after the Vancouver show. I have the same condition that Kim has. I have AVNRT which is a condition that I have had forever. I have an electrical pathway that gets messed up sometimes and causes extreme tachycardia (fast heartbeats). My heartbeat goes well over 230 beats a minute (normal resting rate is about 70-80), which has caused me to pass out/black out. The heart gets into a rhythm and can't get itself out without chemical help. I am not fond of ER visits... So they are going to put a catheter into my femoral artery and put electrical nodes into my heart, stimulate the heart to get it into the wacked out rhythm, and find out where the messed up pathway is. Next, they will zap the electrical pathway with a laser. This is called radiofrequency ablation. Hopefully this solves the issues I have been having since I can remember. It's a fairly safe procedure as far as heart stuff goes. But, still, it's the biggest procedure I have ever had done. At first I was nervous to go through it, but now the constant fear of another ER visit (stress, cold meds, caffeine, or stimulants of any kind can trigger it) outweighs the doubts and anxiety.
And then our next outing will be CANADA! Yep, I am excited. I think we might even have 3 points in bitches Sat and Sun....

Wenatchee KC Show Results:
Saturday 09-12-09 Judge Dr. Ruby Hertz
Notzmo Giant Dancer at Stonelight aka Caleb - WD/BOS 1pt
Aurigan MP Primary Attraction aka Phantom - WB/BOW 1pt
Kennebec Dunes Limited Edition aka LE - RWB

Sunday 09-13-09 Judge Anitra Cuneo
Notzmo Simon Sez aka Simon- RWD
Kennebec Dunes Limited Edition aka LE - RWB

Denise Waiting's Ruby was BOB both days GP 3 Saturday, not sure about today.
Kay and Glen Garrity's girl Bella was WB today
Cant remember Denise's boy's name - he went RWD Sat, and WD/BOW/BOS today.

Dayl and I helped show the two Notzmo boys, who were very good for only meeting us once! They can be seen at http://www.wagginthedog.blogspot.com/ . I love showing new dogs. It's challenging and fun. Especially puppies. I was also very happy with LE's performance, even tho she didnt get the big wins. I am just glad she put in a good showing - no 'energizer-bouncing-bunny' routine. It makes a big difference when they are steady and focused.

Another AWESOME part of my weekend was the B-Match...
Aurigan Dunes Celestine Blue aka Bella at 4 1/2 months went BOB, and Group 1 under Lorrie Bellah. Its always fun to win prizes, get the puppies some experience, AND get recognition for having a nice puppy. I hope she continues to blossom into all her potential. Her brother Maksim looks to be growing up nicely too. ;)

Hunter is doing well in his agility class. Not sure when he will be ready for actual trials tho.

Grandma's Garden

Jesse and I packed up the dogs and headed to Grandma's house for the weekend. Jesse's mom (aka Grandma) has a fabulous garden in which we took bell, banana and habanero peppers, tomatoes and onions out of for homemade salsa today. Wow, my hands are pruney from the juices!
The dogs had fun scouting out the garden. They discovered a hole under the garage (as seen behind Hunter) that held their attention for awhile. Nothing in there - but it was recently disturbed.
Hunter has started herding lessons! Once he got all the piss and vinegar out of his system, he listened well and got to business. Thanks to Denise Waiting for helping me get with Lisa for lessons!
I am also SO excited about doing the Canadian shows again. I really like the fact that they are smaller shows, and they do the group judging as soon as the group is finished, rather than waiting until most of the breeds are done and doing one group at a time. And, usually, the same judge does the whole group. Therefore, the group judging goes quicker because the judge has seen all of the dogs. I know why that isn't feasible in the US (too many dogs, pro handler schedules, etc), but that is why I like showing in Canada.

My Helpers

All the kids were playing up stairs today while I cleaned and took pics. They were helping by, of course, being in the way. LE is really good at staying out of the way, usually, with the exception of the kitchen. She lays either right under the sink or by the stove which happen to be the two places I seem to be most. Bella and Hunter just go wherever I go. A bit annoying some days...
As I was making my way back up the stairs, they were all waiting for me - AND I had the camera in hand.
Hunter - 20 months old, Bella - 4 months old, LE - 4 years old

Enumclaw Show Weekend

Congrats to all the winners this weekend at Enumclaw!
I don't have the catalog with me, so I will try to do my best here...

Friday night at the B-Match, Miss Bella (Aurigan Dunes Celestine Blue) got a Group 2! Dayl said she looked like a bowl of jello running around the ring. She has A LOT of skin to grow into. I was very happy with her performance - even tho she cant hold still to save her life... ;)

Saturday Results
LE (Kennebec Dunes Limited Edition) went 2nd in Open
Phantom (Aurigan MP Primary Attraction) went 1st in 12-18mo bitch and RWB
Brecca (Rememberance Brecca) went 4th in Open
Savannah (Wofrun White Lightning) was WB/BOS for a 3pt major which finished her.
Dash (Coedwig's Cracker Jack) was 1st/WD/BOW for a 3pt major also.
Lincoln (Ch. Pawcific Signed Sealed Delivered) was BOB

Sunday Results under Judge R. Frost
Phantom went 1st in 12-18 mo and RWB
Brecca went 3rd in Open
LE was on some concoction of speed and/or caffeine and therefore was not given a ribbon. She was such a spaz! A happy, effervescent, over-the-top, adrenaline-took-over-her-body-and-mind spaz... (Just kidding about the speed or caffeine... that was a joke!)
Mirage was 1st/WB/BOW for a 3 pt major which finished her too!
Ruby was BOB
Lincoln was BOS

Hunter went for the CERF clinic and is all normal there. Another health clearance down! He did get to participate during grooming time too, since he seemed left out and bored...

Onto Wenatchee in a month. Good luck to all at Redmond next weekend.

Upcoming Shows

I know of at least four girls in our region need a major to finish, and a whole lot more need a major or two just because... I only have LE showing right now (and maybe Hunter) but I thought that I might post my potential show schedule in case the NW wants to try to build any majors at upcoming shows (like we just tried to do for Enumclaw - not sure if we were successful or not).

Aug 15,16 - Enumclaw, WA: Judges Cathy H. Daugherty and Robert Stein
Sept 12,13 - Wenatchee, WA: Judges Dr. Ruby Hertz and Dr. Sam Burke Jr.
Sept 19,20 - Shelton, WA: Judges Linda Riedel, Terry B. Carter
Sept 26 - Richland, WA: Judge ?
Oct 10,11 - Cloverdale, BC: Judges Limoges, Haverstock, Paterson, Mincey
Oct 24,25 - Ridgefield, WA: Judges ?
Oct 29,30,31,Nov 1 - Abbotsford, BC: Judges? Herding group specialty
Nov 7,8 - Salem, OR: Judges ?

I would love to do St Helens this year, but as of right now I have another thing going on. We will most likely have majors at Richland. Dayl and I are taking 3 or 4 to Wenatchee. And yes, I know the BC shows dont count for AKC, but I LOVE showing in Canada. ;)

Memories

A realization hit me like a ton of bricks this morning.
My mother has been gone for 10 years today.

I just felt like writing about her today, though I am not exactly sure where to start or what to say...

Some people may wonder how Dayl Phillip and I got connected. Well, my mother, Yvette, and Dayl were best friends in high school. They bonded over horses and therefore, I have known Dayl basically my whole life. I have very fond memories of my mom, Dayl and I all sitting in Dayl's computer room looking up Haflinger horse pedigrees, or riding through Dayl's cherry orchards on the horses, or driving the three hours just to see the new foals.

My dad loathed our trips to Dayls. Because we would end up bringing an animal home with us! My mom and I (and my brother for that matter) seemed to get into a lot of 'trouble' with Dayl... The last animal my mom brought home was a Cardigan puppy. Just a week or so before the car accident that took her life. Dayl had her first litter of Cardigans and I had previously said that I wanted to get out of showing horses and into showing dogs. I was so excited when my mom brought Auri home.

Auri ended up being my life preserver. My heart dog. I could go on and on about how special that girl is to me.

Dayl and I wonder out loud sometimes how many dogs my mom would have had... wonder if she would have gotten into dog showing/breeding or if she would have stuck to the horses... wonder what her 'kennel' name would have been... if she would have liked this puppy or that puppy... what stud dog she would have used with whichever bitch...

But, we know that she would have had fun. The dogs are such a large part of my life. I would have loved to share my passion for this breed with her. She loved animals. And she had a way with animals. I will always say that she was one of the most patient, kind, and generous people I have ever known.
